A Little Sunday Excitement

Today we enjoyed a nice Father's Day picnic in the backyard with fabulous weather, followed by an amazing and impressive hailstorm.  In my 29 years in Billings, I've never seen such a bad storm.  We got 2.75 inches of rain in less than an hour.
About 20 minutes into the storm, we heard the tornado siren and heard on the news that an F2 tornado had touched down at the Metra--our local sports arena/activities center located about 2 1/2 miles from our house.

In honor of Ashley, who harbors a secret ambition to be a tornado chaser, we went out to take a look.
This is the Metra.

Yikes!  It also hit the local McDonald's.

This large silver thing was blown onto the road.
We never figured out exactly what it was.
It looked like part of a semi, but there was no cab.

The windshield repair shop isn't looking too good.

Hailey and Makayla were really excited by all the devastation.
They were practically sitting on the edge of their car seats.

More scenes of destruction

After driving around for about an hour we returned home.
Our lawn was still covered with melting hail.

my garden is ruined,

my trees leaves are all on the ground,

and Megan's little car

isn't looking too good : (
It's tough when you have a 2 car garage and 4 vehicles.

I can't believe it!! That is horrible! Your poor garden and Megan's car. The metra looks horrible. There is a live video recording on yourtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlGsNN7TPrc) (WARNING! you will need to mute it, there is swearing).

Wow! We didn't plan anything near as exciting - it's hard to keep up with the Joneses!

Glad you are ok. Sorry to hear about the car.

Oh, I feel your pain! Will insurance cover the car? And the poor garden!

Thank you for chasing the storm for me! I am so mad I missed it! How did my truck do? I know its tough enough to make it through... it has been through a lot. : )

Ashley, "your" truck looks just like the car- broken windows and hundreds of dents. That car is our only vehicle with full coverage, so we will just fix the windows on the truck and leave the hail marks to keep the dents you put in it company.
