A Party And Progress

A PARTY!

Hailey's fifth birthday is on Tuesday, June 14, but Amy had a pool party for Hailey today.
Amy has a nice pool at her apartment building.

Makayla forgot she is only 2 1/2 feet tall and walked into the 4 foot area and had to be rescued by a stranger. It took Makayla at least 4 minutes to work up the courage to get back in the water.

Grandpa had a nice chat with the birthday girl.

Hailey was pretty happy to be the center of celebration. Here she is with Amy's friend, Brian.

Hailey and Makayla could have done the "jump into the pool trick" all night.

Megan had just a bit too much blue kool-aid.

Happy Hailey opening presents.

The birthday cake.

Just in case you forgot, Hailey is turning this many.

Hailey could get a job as a fire extinguisher--she made sure to use plenty of spit to douse those flames.

Amy bought a pinata, and after a little instruction, Hailey went to work.

Hailey only had to hit it 1784 times before it broke.

I don't know, do you think that's enough candy for two little girls?
I think Hailey's favorite gift was some silly string.

She made sure to decorate several party guests.

Happy Birthday, Hailey! We love you!

SOME PROGRESS!
Work at the duplex is coming along. The siding is all painted.

The gas fireplace insert was installed today.

It looks nice.

In the last couple of days, Stan has put in the floor of the corner shower stall,

piped in plumbing for the sink,

prepared the hole for the toilet,

added an outlet and a built-in space heater to this formerly unheated space

and installed the shower head. I hope Stan remembers to add some shower walls.  This shower is just a teensy scratchy looking for my taste.

Later in the day, I was in the basement when I heard noises coming out of this tiny hole.

I peered in and discovered this fella connecting pipes.

I so wanted to crawl into this claustrophobic space with Stan and play with this magnificent spiderweb for a few hours, but alas, I need to go home and finish the talk I'm working on for church tomorrow. Besides, we have until Wednesday morning to wrap things up. If all goes as plan, we'll have at least 30 minutes left over Tuesday night to waste time....
