Dear Makayla,
Something new has been going on with your hair!
It has been growing!
It's kind of Albert Einsteinesque, but it's hair!
Makayla, you join a long line of wacky-haired relatives.
There's Uncle "Is-that-a-dead-cat-on-your-head?" Scott
Scott, 1978, 2 months
and Aunt "Most-normal-hair-of-the-bunch" Shelly,
Shelly, 1980, 2 months
followed by your "Not-much-going-on-up-there" Mom,
Amy, 4 days, 1984
and Aunt "Cue ball" Jessica
Jessica, 1987, 2 months
as well as Aunt "Who-took-my-hair?" Ashley
Ashley, 6 weeks, 1990
and finally, Aunt "I-had-cute-hair-but-the-hospital-shaved-it-all-off" Megan.
Megan, 2 weeks, 1993
Let's not forget your sister, "I've-got-a-cowlick-and-some-fuzz" Hailey.
Hailey, 3 months, 2006
Don't worry too much, Makayla. After 365 days of growth, your mom only had this much hair.
Amy, 1 year, 1985
At age 2, your mom had this cottony, I-can't-grow-bangs mess.
Amy, age 2, 1986
But there's hope---hair has a way of changing.
These two former barely-there relatives now have long, thick manes.
Even I went through a time period when I had some hair.
Of course it took some youth, an extra curly perm, and hot rollers to achieve this look.
Please excuse the glasses. I promise, at the time they were "groovy".
Amy and Chris, 1986
And Grandpa used to have hair like this. It started to go "old man white" right around the time Scott and Shelly became teenagers.
I'm sure there's no connection.
Stan, 1979
The good news for you, Makayla, is that your mom, former president of the "Bald is Beautiful" club
now has the hair in the family that the rest of us not-so-secretly covet.
Amy, almost 3, and Jessica, age 5 months
So keep sprouting out that blonde stuff! There may still be hope for you!
Love, Grandma "My-hair's-seen-better-days" Jones

Scott REALLY stands out (and up) as far as hair goes, doesn't he? Cute, cute pictures. Makayla, you are a cutie, hair or not!
