More Surgery For Makayla

This morning at 7, Makayla had her surgery to remove her adenoids.  She did really well.  Her doctor said her adenoids were very large for someone of her tiny size,
and that her left ear is in really bad shape.
They also took out the left ear tube and put in a new one.

Makayla's left ear has been draining pus and blood and fluid pretty much nonstop for most of her life.  Makayla  often runs a temperature and is single-handedly keeping the local pharmacy in business with her need for tylenol, ear drops, and antibiotics.

Her doctor and nurses remarked a few times that she was so cooperative. Makayla had to be put completely to sleep.  Isn't it sad to see an IV wrapped up in pink tape on her scrawny little arm?

About 1 hour post surgery, Makayla woke up, threw up, and was pretty groggy for a bit.

But it wasn't long before she was anxious to go home.
The whole process-surgery through recovery- only took about 3 hours.
Amy (and Makayla) sure hope this is the end of those nasty ear infections!
p.s. Makayla is 23 months old and weighs 23.76 lbs.  Her vocabulary has been really picking up lately.  Hopefully, surgery will lead to better hearing, more and clearer speech, and better health.

Amy, these pictures of you with Makayla are so sweet. I especially like the one with her bandaged arm up by your face. You are a beautiful mom.
